Δεύτερη φορά τυχερός - o Franky Zapata γίνεται το πρώτο άτομο που διασχίζει το κανάλι της Μάγχης με ένα τζετ-powered hoverboard

Ο πετώντας γαλλόφωνος Franky Zapata έγινε σήμερα ο πρώτος άνθρωπος στην ιστορία να διασχίσει το Channel της Αγγλίας σε κιβώτιο που λειτουργεί με κηροζίνη όχι πολύ μεγαλύτερο από ένα δίσκο τσαγιού - λέγοντας ότι «αισθάνεται μαγευτικό!».

Ο 40χρονος ξεκίνησε προς τα White Cliffs του Dover από την παραλία Sangatte, στο Calais, στις 7.16 π.μ. ώρα Αγγλίας μπροστά σε ένα πλήθος φωνάζοντας.

Μέσα σε λίγα δευτερόλεπτα ανέβαινε από τον ουρανό και έμοιαζε με μια έκδοση υψηλής τεχνολογίας του Marty McFly, του χαρακτήρα που παίζει ο Michael J. Fox στις ταινίες «Επιστροφή στο Μέλλον».

Υπήρχαν φωνές του 'Allez le Flying Frenchman!' και "Go Franky, go!", συμπεριλαμβανομένης της συζύγου του κ. Zapata, Kystal.

Και στις 7.39πμ - 23 λεπτά αργότερα - ο θριαμβευτικός κ. Zapata προσγειώθηκε στον κόλπο της Αγίας Μαργαρίτας στο Κεντ, λέγοντας: «Ειλικρινά, αυτό αισθάνεται μαγευτικό!».
